Class of 2018

I have always enjoyed writing. As a sophomore, I chose journalism as an elective and learned about the art of journalistic writing. From that point on, I have been writing for the school newspaper, and I enjoy the creativity and freedom that comes with it. You can write about anything. Personally, I enjoy writing longer feature pieces and conducting polls to gauge student opinions. As a journalist for the SHS Knight, I feel more connected with school events and what is happening in the world. I feel thankful for the opportunities that this club gives me and I am very excited for the future of Journalism Club at SHS.

My journalism experience all started freshman year. I signed up for the journalism course and it really opened my eyes to a new type of writing (Definitely not your typical English paper Format). One quote that I will Always Remember is from Jeannette Walls's Memoir The Glass Castle, "I decided I wanted to be one of the people who knew what was really going on" (Walls). Journalism is very important to society because it keeps us informed and in the know. I hope that you come across some of my articles while on the site.

Class of 2019

My journalistic career began first period of freshman year. Although I started off dreading the course, I grew to love it and journalism has become a major part of my life. I love writing opinion, editorial, and feature pieces, digging in deep and investigating important issues. After taking the elective course and participating in Journalism Club, I am considering a career in journalism or broadcast journalism in the future. I am looking forward to collaboratively enhancing the SHS Knight, making it the best it can be.

I still believe that if your aim is to change the world, journalism is a more immediate short-term weapon.
